Three ways to turn a tricky country clue into a more confident answer.
Look for words that narrow the question: a region, a border, a language or a physical feature. A familiar country is only useful if it fits the whole clue.
Start with the region you recognise, then consider neighbouring countries and islands. Geography often becomes easier when you connect places rather than memorise them alone.
In Crowd mode, think of the answers most people may know. In Rare mode, look for a less obvious match—but make sure it still answers the question.

Different clues call for different kinds of thinking. These are practice examples, not questions from the game.
Start with the region, then trace the neighbours. Spain, Belgium and Germany are three examples. Read the whole clue before choosing.
Look beyond Europe: France, Belgium and Senegal are examples. A language can connect countries across different regions.
Think of countries with no coastline. Switzerland, Nepal and Paraguay are examples on three different continents.
